Having a Tooth Knocked Out Isn’t Fun. Here’s What You Should Do

Posted .

At Quail Ridge Dental, we value you your teeth just as much as you do. We understand that life offers many unexpected circumstances. Having a tooth knocked out can be a traumatic experience. The stress from the situation can be almost overwhelming. That’s why we are here to walk you through the process of what to do should this event happen to you.

One of the first steps in caring for a dislodged tooth is washing the debris that may have gotten on the tooth. During this step, take precaution to make sure you don’t grab the tooth by the root, hold it only by the crown. Then, while still holding the tooth by the crown, use either lukewarm water or milk to wash off the tooth. After this, if the tooth is unbroken, place the tooth back in the socket it came out of. If you’re unable to do this, place the tooth in either a glass of milk or in the side of your cheek to keep it moistened.

After this, call Quail Ridge Dental to schedule an appointment with Dr. Beck, who can help save the tooth by placing it back in its socket or he can discuss replacement options.

There are a number of options for you to choose from to replace your tooth. Some of them include dental bridges, dental implants, and dentures/partial dentures. You and your doctor can discuss what is best for you. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call our office in Kennewick, Washington, today.
